A local book club is planning on attending. Additional authors are planned as part of the 10 year anniversary celebration.
„« Marvel Training ¡V Holly & Sharon had the opportunity to attend a Marvel training seminar at Sunday River to enhance their knowledge on library computer software. It was funded by the Bill Gates Foundation. Training took place for the remaining library staff. Holly & Sharon shared information obtained at the seminar.
„« Renewing & Reserving Library materials now available on line ¡V Check it out!
„« Community Read Update ¡V Belinda has volunteered to be Freeport¡¦s representative on the organizing committee. The book chosen is ¡§Shadow Divers¡¨. Community activities and book discussions will be planned around this topic. Stay tuned. More to come in January 2008.
„« Catherine Breer Exhibit ¡V now on display at the library. An open house & artist reception will be held on Wednesday 11-14-07.
„« Coffee House ¡V Coffee House continues to be a success. A unique place in the community for local artists to perform.
New Business
„« Art Donation Policy ¡V Beth will formulate a written policy on donations of art to the library. The Board suggested that all gifts be accepted at the discretion of the library board and staff. Donor should be notified of the library¡¦s intent whether to display it temporarily, permanently or sell it. It was also suggested that artwork be displayed on a rotation. And it is okay to decline a donation if it does not suit the library¡¦s needs.
„« Annual Fundraising ¡V An annual appeal letter will be sent from the library to past donors in the beginning of December. The municipal and fire departments have already sent one out.
„« Honorariums for Authors ¡V Beth will check w/ surrounding towns to see how much they give for honorariums. Board thought an offering of $100 seemed appropriate.
„« Long Range Planning ¡V The board continues to brainstorm ideas for needed library improvements that should be included in the capital budget. There is still a need for an expanded young adult section.
„« Next meeting ¡V Monday 12/3/07 at the Freeport Community Library @7PM.
