September 8, 2005 Workshop
Group brainstormed factors that worked well and were perceived as success and opportunities for improvement and further dialogue relative to the Soule School Project.
Success:
Over all communications
Participants were pleased with French School and Community relations
French School communication of work/project schedule
No Parking signs on the road
Notification to Bustins Island property owners of potential impacts and meetings
Allowing parking on the street as a last resort
End to end parking in the public lot
Volunteer support to count cars.
High degree of resident participation
Structured meeting format
Participants were able to voice their opinions
Lot was crowed but perceived as working
New fence successfully buffers the impact of lights
Opportunities:
Silver Bullet use and over all space allocation
Impact from lights of cars parked in front of lot
Trash in parking lot
Flyers placed on cars in lot
No Parking signs over the summer months were viewed as tacky and not effective
Discuss right of way with John Thomas
Determine enforcement responsibility for parking to ensure consistent and ongoing compliance to ordinance
Sunday, Church parking non compliant with parking ordinance
On days when lot was full there was parking available at Strouts and Brewers Marinas versus parking on the street
Potential safety concern on Sundays with kids darting between cars to cross street
Lack of a defined area to access the walking path
Fundamental question relative to the Tenants ability to grant parking beyond what is approved in the site plan
Bring added clarity to the French Schools role and responsibility
Space not maximized in the public lot. Should allow cars to park bumper to bumper.
